One wild Friday night

I love to go out. I love to go out to dinner, out to bars, out to parties. I love to be with friends and I love to be social.

But sometimes, it's just fun to do absolutely nothing. And that's exactly what I'm doing tonight.

I'm curled up on my couch in my pajamas, enjoying a glass of wine (pinot noir, my favorite), with my Harvest candle flickering, listening to whatever Party Shuffle on iTunes has in store for me. And I don't know if I've ever been more relaxed in my life. This might be the most perfect Friday night ever. No pressure to look nice, no spending money and no hangover in the morning (depending on the amount of wine I drink, of course).

It's funny to think about how much my perspective has changed over the last couple years. In college, I would probably be harassed for staying in. Not that I ever would have...there were always people to see, places to go, cheap alcohol to drink. And with my boisterous roommates, staying in was never an option. For a time I went out every night from Tuesday through Saturday...every week. When I look back, I have no idea how I did that. What a crazy youngin' I was.

Perhaps it's a sign of my increasing maturity or the fact that I'm exhausted after a long work week, but the thought of going out more than one night a week these days seems insane. Sure, I'll go see a movie or grab a drink with a friend, but once the clock hits 10 on a school night (yep, I still call them that), I get tired and antsy and just want to go to bed.

And though I would love to be with my boyfriend (we're doing the long distance thing) or with my friends, right now I am absolutely loving my Friday night snuggled up in my cozy little apartment. I have the whole weekend ahead of me and it feels amazing.

The only thing I have to think about now is what movie I want to watch because there is absolutely NOTHING on TV. And since I've already watched last night's episode of The Office three times (it was hilarious), a movie is my only option. It's between P.S. I Love You, Made of Honor, Elf and Home Alone. I am well aware that the last two are Christmas movies, but I can't stand it any longer. I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting for the holidays. I LOVE them!

Have a great night everyone!

hey, thanks for stopping by my blog! i totally know what you mean about staying in on a friday night. lately, im just as content hanging with stacy and clinton and a bottle of wine than i would be going out on the town. in fact, sometimes that's even better. by the end of the week, often times im just beat, and the idea of a date with my dvr'd shows and my couch and some comfy clothes sounds just right.

so, which movie did you end up going for?

Elf...I just couldn't help myself. I needed a good laugh before I went to bed and Buddy the Elf always does it for me. Thanks for commenting!

I definitely stayed in last night too. I like to have a good night into myself every now and then!

Sometimes I absolutely LOVE a quiet night in by myself, just the chance to relax and chill out alone. It recharges me, I think. Usually my plans to catch up on my reading or watch a dvd get shelved due to my internet addiction though . . . :)
